Congratulations on your decision to attend the Urban & Hip-Hop Discipleship
School in January. Here you you will find tools that will help prepare you for your trip to Atlanta and raise the necessary support to attend the 9month program.
RAISING SUPPORT
If you have not already paid for the program you may need to raise the necessary funds to attend the school. We want to lead you in the right direction and want to help.
STEP 1. Gather Names
Grab a pen and paper or sit down to your computer with a blank slate for typing. Begin to think of people you know and write down their name. Start with close family, friends and close associates you know. Then branch out to those you come across in your day to day. You will soon realise you know allot of people. In fact we all know at lease 100 in our immediate sphere of influence.
STEP 2. Pick your Top 20
Next, pick the top 20 who are most excited about what God is doing in your life and circle them. Once you have the list gather the mailing addresses so you can send an "ask" or support letter letting them know about your intention to follow Gods lead by attending the School. We have included a sample letter for you to download.
STEP 3. Letter and Giving Form
Address each letter and place in an envelope along with the Giving Form. This for is to help them in their giving. We have included the form for download. This form along with your support funds are send directly to Freestyle Missions and are applied to your tuition directly. They will have two options. 1. a Special Gift to help you or 2. a Monthly contribution. Obviously if they can provide you with Monthly support this will help you way beyond tuition. Once you pay your tuition continued monthly support goes to you o you can have available spending money or money to apply toward the end of the year mission trip.
STEP 4. Mail

STEP 5. Follow-up Phone Call (email won't do it)
This is the most important part of you raising funds and you cannot allow any fear of rejection to stop you ! Call the people you mailed a letter to. DO NOT EMAIL THEM. Email is a cop-out and you will never get the results you need. When you speak with them ask: "Did you receive the letter I sent about what God is doing" once you chat do not forget to ASK. Ask for the support.
STEP 6. Meet with your Pastor
Now, set up a meeting with your Pastor asking for a church wide appeal or support from the missions department of the church.
STEP 7. Put it on Blast
Now its time to blast your email list, Facebook Friends, Myspace, Twitter and all other social media outlets. Only after STEPS 1-6 are in process.
STEP 8. Repeat
Now take the remaining 80 or so names from your list and repeat steps 1-5
