The Heart of Hip-Hop is a ministry that uses various art forms to impact the urban
and hip-hop culture with the Gospel through outreach, missions and discipleship.
About THOHH
The Heart of Hip-Hop is a global-based ministry for a culture that is inundated with violence, drugs, and immoral behavior. When Hip-Hop was first birthed the true essence of its art form was peace, love, unity, having fun and especially God. The Heart of the culture has strayed from its original intent- which was to be a voice of ones expression to positively effect and influence ones community. Our heart is to bring a culture back to its roots, and establish real change that only comes through Jesus Christ. The Heart of Hip-Hop at first would be described as an affiliation of artists that share a common vision to share the Gospel of Christ to the world, but the heart goes much deeper.
Our purpose is not only to reach the lives of the young people in the streets or the leaders in the church, but to profoundly affect the lives that it reaches in the neighborhoods and the nations.
Our Mission is to serve people, cultivate leaders, and establish His Kingdom. We use Hip-Hop as a tool to provide free concerts and cd's, sermons, educational classes, individual impact, and ministry development.
The Staff
SCOTT FREE:
Scott is a profound MC that is changing the way people look at God and music, using his exciting and extreme ways of getting the point across with his rhymes and cutting edge lyrics. Starting out in Miami FL with two 1200's, Scott was spinning hip-hop music all over the city and the beach. At that time (early 90's), true hip-hop was still underground but emerging quickly. Scott Free started rhyming not long after that. He gave his heart to the Lord in 2000 and has used his gifts and talents to advance God's Kingdom here on the earth. He serves as a full time missionary/evangelist and is the director of Freestyle Missions.
BISHOP:
Chris grew up as a "lukewarm" Christian. God still used him through his musical gifts, including freestyle and rap. After graduating high school, Chris decided to move to Atlanta and become a full-time inner city missionary. He truly began to live a life dedicated to God, and began to use his gifts prophetically encouraging people. After three years in Atlanta, he stepped into full-time ministry with The Heart of Hip-Hop. Chris now serves as the director of the His Prodigy urban discipleship school.
JERM:
Jeremy began singing around the age of 10. His love for music and ministry eventually brought him to a place where he desired to make a greater impact using his gifts and talents. For the past 3 years he has served as an inner-city missionary, singing and incorporating rap into his music. Jeremy was at one time heavily influenced by the Hip Hop culture, Now through Christ he influences the culture to know the one true God (John 17:3). Jeremy disciple's other missionaries who are called into the hip-hop culture, equipping and training others to "hear, know and obey the voice of God." Jeremy serves as the discipleship coordinator for The Heart of Hip-Hop.
ANGEL:
Angel is a hip-hop performer know as Angel El Instrumento. Growing up with parents who abused drugs, eventually dying from a drug overdose, he found a special passion for music. A year after the death of his parents, he realized he needed more than music- he needed Jesus Christ. Since then he has dedicated his life, family and music to Jesus. Angel serves in the Spanish ministries department of The Heart of Hip-Hop.
