"UNITY 101: The Strategic Implementation of Unity in Christian Hip Hop"
"We need more unity in Christian Hip Hop!" Many often say this but what exactly does that look like? Is there a reason for us to unify? As the Co-Owner of DaSouth.com, CEO of Much Luvv Records and founder of Eyes On Me Inc (A non-profit organization) Bobby "Tre9" Herring has over 13 years of experience in the Christian hip hop music industry and will tackle these questions. In this workshop, he will provide a practical approach to unifying the Christian hip hop industry one city at a time.
Since June of 2010 in his own city of Houston, TX, Tre9 has led the Houston Hip Hop Hope Artist Alliance. He and his partner Zee share in a vision for unity through Dasouth.com, which has been a catalyst in the industry for unity. From producing CHH award shows, youth conferences and hip hop missions trips, Tre has proven to be all about serving and exemplifying oneness in Christ wherever possible. Join in on this workshop and learn how you can gain an Ephesians 4:3 mentality, in one accord with your fellow co-laborers in hip hop.
"Balancing Family, Ministry and Music"
Juggling can be a tough act and over the years there has been a history of many artists, pastors and leaders that have dropped the ball and hurt many lives. We've all seen it and many of us have experienced it first hand.
What steps can we take to protect what God has called us to steward? In this session Tommy "Urban D" Kyllonen will share several principles he's learned over the 15 years he's been married and in full-time urban ministry while also doing music.
"Finding Excellence in Ministry, Music and Marketing"
I think we have all said it.. "That's good enough". It's a natural response to few resources, people and time and has been the limiting curse of many ministries and careers. The call to be excellent is still the standard and it can be achieved.
In this session Gerry Van Mansfeld of Empty Vessel Music Group and Lawrence "DJ Lace" Stroman of The Higher Ground Record Pool give practical advice on the pursuit and attainment of excellence in everything we do.
"Becoming a Real City Taker"
Led by Pastor Scott Free, this workshop provides practical information on what it means to be the church and have effective impact on the urban and Hip-Hop culture in your own backyard and throughout the world. It covers networking, outreach and discipleship.
Residing in the Hip-Hop capital of the world - Atlanta GA, Scott Free pastors a monthly Urban & Hip-Hop service called City Takers. His focus on being the Church pushes him daily beyond the four walls of tradition to serve in prisons, jails, homeless shelters, schools and drug rehab centers.
What is City Takers ?
City Takers is a monthly hip-hop service designed to reach the unchurched. Formatted with 3-4 Christian hip-hop artists, a worship leader and Scott Free preaching the Word. This service is very non-traditional but holds to the commitment to preach God's Word in a real and relevant way yet without compromise.
The hip-hop format provides a safe place for those in the Urban culture to gather, worship and fellowship within the context of Freestyle's mission to reach and impact this culture.
